Welcome back for day 3 of dressage at the Pan American Games! Today the individual medals will be decided. To get caught up, you can read our end-of-day coverage from day 2 or the play-by-play from that day. You can also see all of the Chronicle’s Pan Ams coverage here

Ride times and live results are here.

3:40 p.m. FINAL INDIVIDUAL RESULTS: GOLD: Steffen Peters and Legolas 92, SILVER: Laura Graves and Verdades, BRONZE: Chris Von Martels and Zilverstar.

We’re headed to the awards and press conference now; check back at chronofhorse.com in a bit for more details on the day!

3:34 p.m. They do a piaffe fan at A and head back down centerline in a super springy passage. This last piaffe is one of his best today. Finishing with passage into the halt! We’re eagerly awaiting her score now…

3:30 p.m. They do their twos on a curved line, and they’re almost flawless, just a quick double-foot behind at the last. Biiig extended canter down the centerline towards to the judges into a double pirouette, which is lovely.

3:27 p.m. U.S. rider Steffen Peters into the lead on 80.07 percent! The only who can beat him is Laura…

3:25 p.m. Laura Graves in the ring! She starts with a trot tour. Her music is very cheerful, lots of cymbals in this trot part. Now some passage to piaffe on the centerline. Diddy isn’t looking quite as powerful in the piaffe as he did a few days ago, but he’s still very obedient.

3:19 p.m Mexico’s Bernadette Pujals is in the ring now with Heslegaard’s Rolex, a beautiful grey. Their music is quite regal and like a soundtrack. He’s quite obedient but has a small mistake in the ones.

3:11 p.m. They’re going with the passage half-pass to a piaffe fan. Then some extended trot… Then the same thing on the opposite side. Steffen looks VERY happy with that! Will it be a medal score? Will it be a GOLD medal score? We’ll know soon enough… Waiting on score now, with still Laura Graves to go for the U.S.

3:10 p.m. Everyone loves Steffen’s combo of extended canter to pirouette to piaffe to walk. (I love it!) He executes it beautifully as usual.

3:08 p.m. Two tempis are clean! The first double pirouette is lovely, and then into some more canter half-pass. Just a VERY minor mistake in the ones, he kinds of double-foots it behind for a second.

3:06 p.m. They do their usual walk entry, halting at D and then right into passage and piaffe tour. Legolas’ music says “Hey, I’m Legolas” when he enters, which always makes people laugh.

3:05 p.m. We have our next U.S. pair in next, Steffen Peters on Legolas 92! They had a super first team test, but some mistakes in their Grand Prix Special. Steffen will be looking to cut those out today.

3:02 p.m. They finish with some more piaffe/passage work. Canada loves her! Many flags waving in the stands.

3:00 p.m. Anton gets a little lateral in the collected walk, but all of their trot work was lovely. And now they’re cantering, right into a double pirouette. A little mistake in the twos in the beginning and then she sorts them out. The first canter music sounds like something you’d hear on Game Of Thrones.

2:58 p.m. Belinda enters in passage, halts and then back to passage before doing a little piaffe. Then extended trot. Her music is sort of inexplicable…so sorry, that doesn’t help anyone at all! It’s drummy, there’s some chanting in the background…

2:55 p.m. Alright we’re back from break. Megan Lane just did her freestyle demonstration, and Belinda Trussell is heading in now with Anton.  Poor Anton was very nervous for the first day of team competition but much better on Sunday. He seems cool as a cucumber in there today so far.

Here’s Megan on Saturday.

2:26 p.m. We’re on another break now! We’ll start back at 2:55 with Belinda Trussell and Anton. Canada’s Megan Lane will do a test ride/exhibition ride with Caravella at 2:45.

2:25 p.m. Big extended canter with Finn across the diagonal! She ends with an extended trot.

2:20 p.m. Virginia Yarr of Chile in next with Finn. She stops off with a very energetic trot music, some violins in the background of it. Finn looks like a spicy redheads. She has a mistake in the three-tempis, but she’s otherwise having an excellent ride with this powerful music.

2:18 p.m. Just a mistake in one set of twos for Brittany Fraser, and that’ll get her a 76.50 percent provisionally. That’s in second for now!

2:10 p.m. And Chris gets a provisional 79.50 percent! His countrymate Brittany Fraser is in now with All In. She starts out with some bouncy trot music. This horse is pretty extravagant up front. She’s got some vocals in her music. All In canters across the diagonal in about five strides! She does her two tempis on a curved line and the threes back on the diagonal.

2:02 p.m. The trot is very clearly a strength here. Chris is getting that out of the way first, showing off fabulous half passes and extended trots. Chris’ music sounds a bit like intstrumental U2 if I’m correct. And the canter is also very strong–expressive, uphill, sitting. His music changes to old school rock and roll instrumental for the flying changes and then back to some U2. And at the finish, a sea of Canadian flags!

1:59 p.m. Spotted! Eventer Boyd Martin and Chef D’Equipe David O’Connor watching some of the freestyles.

Here’s Chris from Saturday.

1:56 p.m. Kim tells us Rosmarin was a bit tired today and they both got a bit flustered with the first mistake, which carried over a bit, but she couldn’t be prouder of her horse and the fact that she helped her team to a gold medal. Luis Denizard finished his ride with a big cheer! Next up, Chris von Martels from Canada and Zilverstar. This horse is amazingly light across the ground and we’re expecting a big score.

1:43 p.m. Rosmarin got a little stuck in his pirouette and the crowd gasped. Otherwise, this is a nice test. The stands are nearly full today. The right pirouette is better. She does a broken line in extended trot to the centerline and finishes with Rosmarin halting and standing on a long rein. Good boy! Next up, Luis Denizard from Puerto Rico, riding as an individual.

1:41 p.m. Kim’s test starts out with trotwork to a mash of Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jaggar.”

Here’s Kim and Rosmarin on Sunday.

1:37 p.m. Leandro takes the lead now on 73.30 percent! The Brazilians are really showing their skill today. Next up, for the U.S., Kim Herslow and Rosmarin!

1:31 p.m. Next in the ring, Jesus Palacios and Wizard Banamex from Mexico. This pair come out to a big, atmospheric score. Sounds like it’s out of a Lord of the Rings type movie.

1:21 p.m He starts out with a bang doing an extended canter from his first halt. His music is just nice jazzy type instrumentals. Nothing too huge-sounding. There’s a little more modern Coldplay instrumental in it too for the trot work. The music has been blaringly loud down by the edge of the ring for this photographer, but the horses still don’t seem bothered. This is a soft, light feeling freestyle. Leandro’s transitions are so seamless and his two-tempis up the centerline to finish are bang on. He finishes with his usual fist pump!

1:18 p.m. Next up is Joao’s Brazilian teammate, Leandro Aparecido da Silva on Di Caprio. Here he is on Sunday with his adorable daughter Lara.

1:09 p.m. We’re back underway with Joao Victor Marcari Oliva and Xama Dos Pinhais. They were on the bronze medal winning Brazilian team. Joao is 19 years old. This Lusitano stallion is very Baroque-looking and excels at the collected work. Joao’s music is classic James Bond. This little horse is so obedient and workmanlike. They’re so focused on each other. Joao sits so correct and quiet. They nail the twos and there’s some cheering! Joao gives his horse a hug hug and kiss.

12:30 p.m. We’re a break now until 1:10! Here are the scores of the nine who’ve gone so far:

results s

12:24 p.m. Some modern music with this freestyle. There was a version of “Moves Like Jagger.” Joao does a one-handed pirouette and tempis, and the crowd goes wild! He waves his top hat! Pats his horse! Shakes his fist! Much happiness.

12:18 p.m. Joao Victor Oliva Marcari and Veleiro Do Top are in now for Brazil. They were part of Brazil’s bronze medal team. Here they are from the second team day:

Rider

12:12 p.m. The trot music has a Russian feel to it, and it really suits this big horse. The canter music is equally cheerful and accordion-ish. Awww Maria gives him a huge hug when they finish.

12:10 p.m. Maria Florencia Manfredi is going in next with Bandurria Kacero. It’s a big black horse. This entry music has a little element of polka to it.

12:06 p.m. This music is what I would call “Adventure Dramatic.” It would be good for Indiana Jones film too. Or maybe James Bond. Or perhaps a spy movie. They do an extended trot into the halt.

11:59 a.m. Christer Egerstrom and Bello Oriente in the ring next. He’s riding for Costa Rica. Fun fact: All three members of the Costa Rican team are related! It’s Christer and his wife Michelle Batalla Navarro and their daughter Anne Egerstrom Batalla.

11:56 a.m. US eventers are now in the hooooouse. Just saw them walking around as a pack.

11:55 a.m. Sorry guys, I’m trying to Shazaam some of these songs I don’t recognize, but it’s usually not picking up the slightly different version. Now we do have a version of a Shakira song for the canter.

11:50 a.m. Marco Bernal and Farewell IV in next, also for Colombia. They enter to some jazzy music, and the crowd is clapping along!

11:50 a.m. Sabine Schut-Kery just came up to chat with us about yesterday’s ruling regarding the amount of riders allowed in the final. She said she was disappointed to not be able to compete today, but she was thankful for the chance to do her freestyle as the test ride.

11:45 a.m. OK we’re working now. He starts with some trot work.

Here’s those awesome braids on Beckham!

11:42 a.m. Whoops, Raul’s music didn’t start, and he entered the ring without it. He’s back outside, and they’re trying again now.

11:40 a.m. Raul Corchuelo Barnal and Beckham for Colombia going around the outside now. Beckham has the coolest braids! Very many very small ones, and they kind of stick up off the neck. We’ll get a pic for you.

11:38 am: If you’re just joining in and want to know when U.S. and Canadian riders go:

U.S. rider times:

1:40 pm: Kimberly Herslow and Rosmarin

3:05 pm: Steffen Peters and Legolas 92

3:25 pm: Laura Graves and Verdades

Canadian rider times:

2:00 pm: Chris von Martels and Zilverstar

2:10 pm: Brittany Fraser and All In

2:55 pm: Belinda Trussell and Anton

11:35 a.m. After her ride, Esther trots right over to the rail to high five someone.

11:32 a.m. Epic music in freestyles: so hot right now. This has lots of crashing symbols and then violins. It’s pretty! This is a lovely, light-looking chesnut. His extended canter really covers the ground.

11:30 a.m. Esther Mortimer Jones and Adajio are going in now. Here they are from earlier:

Esther

11:28 a.m. Speaking of beautiful days, it’s kind of not one here today. Rainy and overcast, but I’m sure the horses appreciate the cooler temps. It’s in the 70s instead of 80s. Here’s the sign that greeted us in the press room today:

Smile

11:26 am: Trot starts off with a version of U2’s “Beautiful Day.” I think this is good trot music! Kinda epic. He’s so happy at the finish!

11:25 a.m. The volume of the music is LOUD, I think. So far not bothering any horses though. Chardonnay is still doing his canter work.

11:21 a.m. Chardonnay is a lovely and flashy chestnut, lots of white, floaty front leg. I would call his entrance music “Jungle Fabulous.” A little dancy but also drums and melodies in the background. They lead off with canter pirouettes on the centerline and then into canter half-pass.

Here’s Julio, obviously pumped with his ride!

11:15 a.m. Julio Mendoza Loor and Chardonnay will be in next. Jose earns a score of 69.35 percent for his freestyle and for Mexico.

11:11 a.m. Irina Moleiro and Von Primaire in the ring now. They started with that “Hooked on a feeling song” and are now doing a melodic version of Hall Of Fame’s “The Script.” Irina is one rider who gained a spot today after the new draw and re-examination of the rules.

11:07 p.m. Because you want to know about fashion too (maybe?) Jose has a lovely bit of green on his collar. Also, he’s rocking a mustache. His very cute and round chestnut horse checks out the crowd after his last (square) halt.

Jose from earlier in the week:

Jose

10:59 a.m. Next up, Jose Padilla from Mexico and Donnersberg. Mexico was fourth in the team competition. This is a gorgeous liver chestnut gelding who’s one of the oldest horses in the competition at 18. His music is very jazzy to start the canter work. There’s a little bit of an Irish feel to it as well.

10:51 a.m Sabine is riding her test as the test ride now.

10:50 a.m. As you may have heard, there was quite an issue with the draw for this individual competition, and the FEI has released a statement about it. Because of the changes, we won’t see Sabine Schut-Kery on Sanceo or Megan Lane on Caravella competing today.

10:30 a.m. The freestyles are being scored a little differently than the team competitions. Whereas Grand Prix combinations received a 1.5 percent coefficient for their efforts the past two days, for individual medals everyone will go with regular scoring. So small tour and large tour will be competing on equal footing.

9:00 am: Good morning! We’re here, and we’re getting ready to go at 11 a.m. with the first rider, which is when we’ll start updating this page. In the meantime, check out times and our previous coverage! They’re calling for rain today, which is making us sad, but hopefully it’ll pass through quickly.

U.S. rider times:

1:40 pm: Kimberly Herslow and Rosmarin

3:05 pm: Steffen Peters and Legolas 92

3:25 pm: Laura Graves and Verdades

Canadian rider times:

2:00 pm: Chris von Martels and Zilverstar

2:10 pm: Brittany Fraser and All In

2:55 pm: Belinda Trussell and Anton
