World Equestrian Brands, LLC recently introduced the Equilibrium Therapy Massage Pad and it is gaining popularity with national and international riders horsemen and women including Kim Severson, Kathy Pavlich and Pierre St. Jacques.
With the selection trials and World Equestrian Games approaching riders are seeking every edge for their horses. The Equilibrium Therapy Massage Pad is clinically proven relax the horse and its back, allowing for greater flexibility and a lengthening of stride. “Riders have reported an increase in their horse’s stride of up to 12 centimeters,” Robin Moore, owner of World Equestrian Brands LLC said. Clinical studies conducted by Myerscough College have proven that after six weeks of use, horses demonstrated significant improvements in back flexibility, relaxation and showed an increase in stride length.
“For us the pad is part of maintaining healthy horses, not only as something to use if there is an issue,” said Kim Severson, Olympic Eventer.
Each session with the massage pad lasts 30 minutes. The pad has three settings- low to cool a horse‘s muscles after exercise, medium to warm muscles before a workout and high to relax a horse’s muscles on a day off from training. The Equilibrium Therapy Massage Pad can also be used to relax a horse during exercise. “It’s great for endurance horses when they are in the box trying to bring their heart rate down,” Moore explained.
During each thirty-minute session, the therapy pad strokes, vibrates and oscillates muscles to improve circulation and flexibility. “I have used it before riding my cold-backed horse and notice his muscles are more relaxed from the moment I mount,” said Kathy Pavlich, Grand Prix Dressage rider. “My Grand Prix horse really enjoys it after a good workout and naps while it is on.”
