Swimming Lessons

OK, so the summer hit South Carolina squarely in the jaw. Hot does not come close to describing the temperatures. In order to give my show horses a bit of a variety in their training schedule, I decided to take them swimming.

Lucky for us, we have a farm here in Aiken which offers such a service. Yes, I was a bit apprehensive about letting my Grand Prix horse (from now on nicknamed “The Barge”) and my quirky Welsh Pony stallion (we’ll call him “The Torpedo”) be handled by a stranger, but Bubba, the owner/operator/handler at Sandyhills Farm, did an outstanding job. He did mention that he had worked with Boyd Martin’s event horses and Muffy Seaton’s top driving ponies, and that definitely put me at ease.

So, without further ado—here are two short video clips of the boys doing their thing.
