Jacksonville, FL – September 11, 2013 –This year’s Southeast Medal Finals, to be held Sept. 19-22, 2013 at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, offers an impressive line-up of equitation finals and new competitive hunter and jumper divisions and classes. In its second year, the innovative show has added a new class that is sure to be a high point and provide some good fun and comedic relief – the Parent Lead Line Class.

Junior riders are encouraged to bring their parents to vie for the top honors as well as additional awards in fun categories including the Most Confident, Most Likely to Turn Professional, Best Outfit, Most Terrified and Most Medicated.

“A member of our team mentioned that she had participated in similar classes with her father when she was younger and that they both had a blast with it,” said James Lala, who partners with Bob Bell and Classic Company to produce the Southeast Medal Finals. “I think it will be a great way to get the parents even more involved while also providing a fun opportunity for them and the junior riders.”

One of the masterminds behind the class, Mary Adelaide Brakenridge, added: “They’ll be competing right in the main coliseum at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. It really gives non-horsey parents a chance to share in the fun, show them what it’s like in the show ring, and rewards them all for their efforts.”

Parent Lead Line is open to parents of junior exhibitors. Junior exhibitor (under 18) must lead the parent on horseback. Parents must wear an approved helmet and suitable shoes. Creativity is encouraged. All proceeds generated from this class will be donated to Unbridled Warriors, equine assisted programs for military and first- responders.
