Show Jumping Teams Named For Spruce Meadows And Rotterdam

The following teams have been named by the U.S. Equestrian Federation to ride in Nations Cup competition at the CSIOs at the Spruce Meadows Continental in Calgary, Alberta, and Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Two U.S. teams will compete at the Spruce Meadows Continental, held June 13-16, while one team will head to Rotterdam, June 18-23.

The following teams have been named by the U.S. Equestrian Federation to ride in Nations Cup competition at the CSIOs at the Spruce Meadows Continental in Calgary, Alberta, and Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Two U.S. teams will compete at the Spruce Meadows Continental, held June 13-16, while one team will head to Rotterdam, June 18-23.

Spruce Meadows Continental

The United States will send a Stars team and a Stripes team. One team will be designated a “point team,” which will earn points towards qualifying for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping Season Series Final in Barcelona, Spain, Sept. 26-29.

Stars Team

  • Reed Kessler (Lexington, Ky.) on her own Cylana, a 2002 Belgian Warmblood mare.
  • Kent Farrington (Wellington, Fla.) on Robin Parsky’s Blue Angel, a 2002 Anglo-European mare.
  • Charlie Jayne (Elgin, Ill.) on Alex Jayne and Maura Thatcher’s Chill R Z, a 2003 Zangerscheide stallion.
  • Christine McCrea (East Windsor, Conn.) on Candy Tribble and Windsor Show Stables’
 Zerly, a 2004 Dutch Warmblood mare.

First Alternate: Charlie Jacobs (Boston) on CMJ Sporthorse LLC’s Flaming Star, a 1999 Irish gelding.

Stripes Team

 Super Trooper De Ness, a 2002 Belgian Warmblood stallion.
  • Katie Dinan (Wellington, Fla.) on Grant Road Partners LLC’s Nougat Du Vallet, a 2001 Selle Francais gelding.
  • Brianne Goutal (New York) on Remarkable Farms LP’s Nice de Prissey, a 2001 Selle Francais stallion.
  • Rich Fellers (Sherwood, Ore.) on Harry and Mollie Chapman’s
 Flexible, a 1996 Irish Sport Horse stallion.

First Alternate: Candice King (Wellington, Fla.) on Bellissimo LLC’s Kismet 50 or Stateside Farm LLC’s Campbell VDL. 
Kismet 50 is a 2001 Belgian Warmblood mare.
 Campbell VDL is a 2004 Holsteiner stallion.

Team selection for the Spruce Meadows Continental was based on athlete’s ranking on the May 3 Rolex/USEF Show Jumping Ranking List. Additionally, the chef d’equipe had the discretion to replace up to two athletes who would have otherwise been named to the team due to ranking on the Rolex/USEF Show Jumping Ranking List.

Rotterdam

Four of the following combinations will represent the United States at Rotterdam:

  • Beezie Madden (Cazenovia, N.Y.) will ride Abigail Wexner’s Cortes ‘C’, a 2002 Belgian Warmblood gelding.
  • Laura Kraut (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) on Cherry Knoll Farm, Inc.’s
 Cedric, a 1998 Holsteiner gelding.
  • Lauren Hough (Wellington, Fla.) on Laura and Meredith Mateo’s Quick Study, a 1999 Selle Francais gelding.
  • Karl Cook (Woodside, Calif.) will ride Signe Ostby’s Jonkheer Z, a 2002 Zangerscheide stallion.
  • Lucy Davis (Los Angeles) will ride Old Oak Farm’s
 Barron, a 2004 Belgian Warmblood gelding.

Team selection for Rotterdam was based on athlete’s ranking on the May 10 Rolex/USEF Show Jumping Ranking List. Additionally, the chef d’equipe had the discretion to replace up to two athletes who would have otherwise been named to the team due to ranking on the Rolex/USEF Show Jumping Ranking List.

Robert Ridland will serve as chef d’equipe for the U.S. teams at the Spruce Meadow Continental and Rotterdam.
