The country is located in eastern Jackson and western Madison counties, and is approximately 20 miles square. It is mostly open and rolling pasture land, panelled with coops and post and rails. The Royston Country, approximately 20 miles northeast of the kennels, is approximately 7 by 7 miles, rolling cattle pasture with extensive paneling.
