This summer, a new hunter/jumper facility formed in the beautiful equestrian community of Wellington, FL. Palms Stables is a welcome retreat from the norm, offering boarding and lessons for riders in a family friendly environment. Featuring world-class instruction, Palms Stables accommodates all levels of riders, from walk-trot to Medal/Maclay at their state-of-the-art facility.
Opened by Michael and Kelly Wiener to help their young son’s budding riding career, Palms Stables is a rare gem in the equestrian community. “We wanted to set this farm up so that other people that were beginning like we were felt comfortable and not so intimidated by the whole process,” explained Kelly. “We wanted them to feel like they could start from the beginning and go as far as they wanted to go. We worked for many weeks over the summer to put it all together.”
It began with instructors Rosemary Bertin and Wendy Ballard. Bertin is one of the most respected trainers in the United States and Canada. She has shown and produced National and Zone Champions in the hunter and jumper rings, and has worked with Olympic horses and riders including Mclain Ward and Jeffrey Welles. Ballard has been training all her life and successfully accumulated many championships at some of the nation’s top shows. She has ridden and trained with the world’s top professionals such as Aaron Vale, Eric Hasbrook, and Jeffrey Welles.
The trainers at Palms Stables help riders and horses reach their full potential in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings. Palms Stables has horses competing at all levels, and their riders have the opportunity to compete at one of the world’s top venues during the Winter Equestrian Festival, located just minutes from the farm.

“We are excited about the business because it is a place where a beginner can come and feel comfortable with the equestrian lifestyle; yet they also have the opportunity to train with top notch trainers,” said Kelly. “They can continue on with a career if that’s what they want to do. Also, because we do have the availability of those types of trainers and our ring is so well equipped and we’re so close to the show grounds, there is such a possibility to grow for those who are experienced riders. I think it offers a little bit to everyone and it’s a great place for beginners and advanced riders. It is a place where you feel comfortable and you’re at home.”
The facility at Palms Stables offers boarding with twenty 12×12 stalls, seven grassy turn out pastures on five acres, miles of trails, as well as air-conditioned tack, feed, and lounge areas. Palms Stables only hires the most professional and experienced grooms to care fort their equines. Their friendly staff offers top notch boarding with relaxed, clean, organized and well-maintained barn and grounds.
“It’s exciting to see how much Palms Stables has already grown and how busy it has been,” expressed Kelly. “We’ve held camps for the kids, and themed horse shows. We’ve done the PBCHA Horse Shows and now some of our riders will be competing at WEF. We are very excited for the coming show season and I think it will be a great year.”
