Rodrigo and Alexa Pessoa welcomed daughter Luciana Emília Pessoa on Dec. 9 at the Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee, Fla. Luciana, born about 7 pounds and 20 inches long, arrived at 8:13 a.m.

She joins the couple’s first daughter Sophia, 5, and Rodrigo’s oldest daughter with ex-wife Keri Potter, Cecilia, 12. And according to Rodrigo, Sophia is ecstatic to add a younger sister to the family.

“She’s the most excited of all,” he said.

Mother and daughter are healthy, and they returned home on Dec. 11.

“She has dark hair, so I guess that’s me,” said Rodrigo when asked which parent Luciana resembles. “And for the moment, the eyes are pretty light, so that would be her mom. So far it’s hard to tell.”

But does he foresee any family ponies in the future to continue the Pessoa riding legacy?

“My older daughter, Cecilia, doesn’t ride at all,” he said. “Sophia rides a little bit, so maybe this one will be the rider. We’ll see.”
