Italian Rider Sabrina Manganaro Dies In Cross-Country Accident

The Italian Equestrian Federation (FISE) confirmed April 12 that rider Sabrina Manganaro was killed while competing on a cross-country course at a Cuceglio, Italy, event. Her horse, Fante di Mezzograno, fell at fence 13, and the 25-year-old rider was killed. The horse was reportedly uninjured in the fall.

The pair was competing at the pre-novice level, and a statement from the FISE said that the horse misjudged the size of the obstacle.

“The President of the Italian Equestrian Federation, Vittorio Orlandi, and his board members, on behalf of the Italian equestrian community, would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Sabrina’s family in this tragic moment,” said a statement from the FISE.
