It’s been truly amazing to watch these diverse and talented riders and horses. I am so proud of Frankie and Ursula. They made it here through a lot of hard work, dedication, support, luck and determination.
It goes to show, once again, that anything is possible when you set a goal, and you push through the ups and downs, gracefully keeping stride through the disappointment, frustrations and heartache.
You have to feel the passion and never lose love for the sport or admiration for these stunning creatures that are our partners. They teach us that only through skillful training can one truly Master the Art. Your success is mirrored in the humility of your actions. And what an honor it is to be a part of such a once-in-a-lifetime experience and opportunity.
I just got back from the opening ceremony. It was incredible. With more then 50,000 in attendance, it was a magical night, which penetrated to the deepest core. The energy was electric in the stadium as the lights flashed and the fireworks exploded. It was a deeply emotional time, as an aspiring athlete myself. I had goose bumps as the first countries started to emerge into the great arena.
There were the biggest smiles and radiant faces, clear proof before my eyes of dreams coming true.
How could I not feel overwhelmed and exhilarated at the same time?

Just to be surrounded by such great energy of individuals who have fought their way to this elite spot of representing their country by doing what they love—I can’t think of a better way to spend my time.
For those of you who are reading this, who share the same intense passion and desire to follow your dreams: Never give up, and never stop believing in yourself and what you can achieve.
Because in the end, we all have a journey upon which to embark. Do what you love, and it will lead you to success.
Tomorrow is the trot-up and the day before the first day of competition. Hang on to your hats folks. It’s gonna be a fast and thrilling ride.
