Jersey Fresh has released an official statement today, May 14, over social media that Inoui Van Bost, who was ridden in the CCI** by Skyler Decker, was seriously injured in a fall at fence 19, a trakehner.

The horse was transported to New Jersey Equine Clinic in Millstone, N.J., where the decision was made to euthanize him.

Decker, 17, is from Mt. Airy, Md. Inouï van Bost, or “Ouija,” was an 8-year-old Belgian Warmblood purchased through Matt Flynn two years ago. Decker and Ouija finished 18th last year in the CCI* at the Adequan/FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (Ky.). They completed two CIC**s this spring, at the Cloud 11-Gavilan North LLC Carolina International and The Fork, where they placed 11th.

Decker was not reported to be badly injured in the fall. She posted the following on her Facebook page: “Ouija, you were a horse of a lifetime. You brought me places I only imagined in my dreams, and for that I’m forever grateful. Gallop on and jump all the cross country fences and eat all the hay cubes you desire. I’ll love you forever.”
