Chiquita, who was ridden by German eventer Maj-Jonna Ziebell, was euthanized on June 14, following a fall at fence 14C on cross-country in the Longines Luhmühlen CCI4*-S (Germany).
According to a statement posted on social media by the event, the 13-year-old Polish Warmblood (Vandamme—Callie Z, Calvin) received veterinary attention onsite before being transported to a nearby veterinary clinic, where she was diagnosed with a broken shoulder and then euthanized.

“My horse was very special. Everyone who got to know Chiquita better—which she chose herself—fell in love with her. I have lost my best friend and am incredibly sad,” said Zieball in a statement translated from German.
