Helen Langehanenberg Loses Ride On Damon Hill NRW

The German Equestrian Federation released a statement today, Nov. 10, stating that Helen Langehanenberg will no longer compete or ride her partner for Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games gold, Damon Hill NRW.

Lawyers for owner Christian Becks said negotiations with the rider failed.

“The ideas about the conditions were too far apart," said Becks, who added that the 14-year-old Westphalian stallion (Donnerhall—Romanze, Rubinstein I) will not be sold but will remain with the family.

“I would much like to have kept the ride on Damon Hill. It was a fantastic time with him,” said Langehanenberg in a statement.

“Until today, we were in negotiations with the lawyer of Damon Hill’s owner to secure the ride on the stallion through the Olympic Games in 2016,” said Dennis Peiler, managing director of the German Olympic Equestrian Committee. “Through the Becks family’s press release, however, new facts have been established. We are very sorry to lose such a good pair.”

The Becks family hasn’t yet announced who will take over the ride.

Damon Hill and Langehanenberg, 32, won team gold and two individual silver medals at this year’s World Games in France, team silver at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and they won the 2013 Reem Acra FEI World Cup Final (Sweden).
