Joi de Vie By Marilyn Newmark
Marilyn Newmark is recognized for working in the classic tradition of 19th century Animaliers. She first began using the medium of bronze in 1970 and since then has won more than 12 gold medals and 90 awards at juried national and international art exhibitions. She is an academian of the National Academy of Design and board member of the National Sculpture Society.

Newmark’s models are produced as uniques, limited editions or by commission. She was the protege of the late renowned illustrator Paul Brown, and she worked with him until his death in 1958. This week’s cover features Joi de Vie, an 111⁄4″ x 221⁄2″ x 6″ bronze of a mare and foal.
She’s done work for the Franklin Mint, the New York Racing Association, and the Thoroughbred Racing Association. Newmark resides in Roslyn Heights, N.Y.
