The Cleveland Equine Clinic is pleased to welcome Sean T. Allison, DVM, of Bainbridge Twp., to the veterinary practice. Dr. Allison will focus his work on lameness, internal medicine, and critical care, as well as general equine healthcare.

Dr. Allison grew up in Geauga County and is a 2003 graduate of Kenston High School. During his senior year at Kenston, he conducted his two-week mentorship project working at the Cleveland Equine Clinic, where he discovered his passion. “I was always fascinated with veterinary medicine growing up and was good with horses. I used to help in the hunter/jumper business cleaning stalls and setting up at the horse shows. As soon as my two-week project was complete, I began volunteering during the summer and worked at the Clinic whenever I had free time. My idols and mentors were Dr. Ron Genovese and Dr. Brett Berthold,” he explained.

After attending Baldwin Wallace College, he graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and spent his clinical year at Michigan State University’s Veterinary School. During school, Allison continued to spend his breaks working at the Cleveland Equine Clinic and with his dedication and experience, became an ideal candidate for the Clinic to hire after he graduated.

“We are very pleased to have this talented young veterinarian join our practice. We have an excellent staff and team of veterinarians and Dr. Allison is a welcome addition,” said Dr. Ron Genovese.

“My parents were very supportive of what I wanted to do, but they would have been supportive of any career I chose, as long as I was passionate,” said Allison. His family has a rich history in the Ohio horse world – his father, Tom, was a respected equine veterinarian with the Randall Veterinary Hospital until an accident resulted in a broken back and a career change. Today he is an attorney working for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Allison’s mother, Sharon, has been a lifelong horsewoman and part of the Lewis & Lewis equestrian operation, as well as an officer in the Ohio Professional Horsemen’s Association. His grandfather is legendary horseman, Howard Lewis.

About The Cleveland Equine Clinic

In 2006, Dr. Ronald Genovese, Dr. Daniel Wilson and Dr. Brett Berthold announced that they were combining their practices (Randall Veterinary Hospital, Inc., Lake Equine Associates, Inc. and Berthold Veterinary Services, Inc.) into a single clinic and ambulatory practice and formed the Cleveland Equine Clinic LLC. Today, the Cleveland Equine Clinic provides high quality ambulatory and emergency medical, surgical and diagnostic care to serve the equine industry.

The Cleveland Equine Clinic constructed an impressive new facility in Ravenna featuring state-of-the-art diagnostic tools like the standing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit and added a number of talented new veterinarians.

“Our new facility has been advantageous in the continued care of our patients. We appreciate the continued support the Cleveland Equine Clinic has received from the equestrian community,” added Dr. Brett Berthold.

In addition to outpatient sports medicine, lameness, health and wellness services, CEC offers a complete range of equine surgical and medical inpatient care including such innovative procedures as IRAP, PRP and stem cells. For more details visit www.clevelandequine.com.
