Wellington, FL (December 20, 2011) – Caitlin Demaree-Dyer’s debut in the dressage ring proved to be a successful one, as the jumper-turned-dressage rider rode away with the Everglades Dressage Adult Amateur Achievement  Award at the Wellington Classic Holiday Challenge. Demaree-Dyer competed her seven-year-old Belgian Warmblood, Efisto, in the Training Level Test 3 to capture the award, which is sponsored by Everglades Dressage and Bethany Peslar.

“This was my first dressage show and the first dressage show for my horse also,” Demaree-Dyer said. “We imported Efisto last year as a jumper and he started the three foot jumpers. He won his first jumper class and he was good at it, but he didn’t love it.”

Demaree-Dyer, who has been a jumper rider since she was nine-years-old, said that she decided to give dressage a try to see if Efisto could find his niche. “We are definitely sticking with dressage,” she said. “What I really like about it is the feeling I get from my horse. He has a lot more confidence in the dressage ring and he really likes to strut his stuff.”

Demaree-Dyer was thrilled to win the Everglades Dressage Adult Amateur Achievement Award and said she looks forward to riding with Peslar. The winner of the Everglades Award receives a beautiful embroidered saddle pad and a certificate for a free training session with Peslar at her Everglades Dressage, a premier equestrian facility located in the exclusive Grand Prix Village of Wellington.

Peslar, an accomplished dressage rider and trainer, congratulated Demaree-Dyer on her win. “How exciting that this was Caitlin and Efisto’s first dressage show. I definitely believe they showed they have a bright future in the dressage world,” Peslar said. “I look forward to Caitlin and Efisto coming to my farm for a lesson.”

Peslar added that she is pleased to once again be sponsoring the Everglades Adult Amateur Achievement Award. “I had a great time sponsoring the award last year and I look forward to this winter season. The adult amateurs are the backbone of our show circuit and I love working with them. I had a wonderful experience with each winner who came to my farm last year for a free training session and I look forward to meeting and working with the winners again this year.”

Peslar, who is a highly sought after clinician, is a strong supporter of equestrian programs in the United States and earlier this year Peslar, and her mother Rose, were honored at a reception for being Gold Medal Club (GMC) members of the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation. Peslar is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medalist, 2006 Reserve Champion in the National Young Adult Grand Prix Championship “Brentina Cup” at Gladstone, and is a successful USEF High Performance Grand Prix competitor. Peslar’s impressive list of accomplishments also includes earning her USDF Gold Medal in 2003 at age 21.
