Burnett Leads The CCI*** Field At The Event At Rebecca Farm

The Event at Rebecca Farm saw the highest of the international levels competing July 22 in the dressage phase. The CCI*** division was led by an unstoppable Hannah Sue Burnett, who ended the day holding both first and second places in a competitive field.

Burnett, The Plains, Va., set the standard as the day’s first CCI*** competitor, scoring a 43.7 on Jacqueline Mars’ 8-year Irish Sport Horse, Cooley Dream. Burnett also captured second place with a ride of 45.6 aboard Under Suspection, a 12-year old Holsteiner owned by Mary Ann Ghadban.

“Cooley is a young horse; he’s only 8 this year. He’s still sort of a work in progress, but he’s lovely. He’s such a fantastic horse, “ said Burnett.

This was her second ever trip to Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Mont. “I came here six years ago so I’ve been trying to get back ever since. I’m really happy to be here,” said Burnett.

She continued, “Both horses were great today. Under Suspection was fantastic too. I thought actually ‘Pippi’ might beat Cooley Dream because she was doing so well in warm-up, but with the wind, she got a little excited, and changes were a little more exciting than what I was hoping. But both tests were really good, and I was very happy with them.”

Standing third, just behind Burnett, is Buck Davidson with Carl Segal and Sherrie Martin’s Copper Beach bringing in a score of 45.7.

In the Adequan USEA Gold Cup CIC*** Division, Mackenna Shea, on her own Landioso, took first with a dressage score of 44.4. Shea just beat out her coach, Tamra Smith, who rode Peggy’s Moore’s Lagos Star to second place with a score of 44.5. Smith also currently holds three of the top five spots for CIC***, riding Dempsey to fourth place on 49.0, and Twizted Syster to fifth place on 49.8.

In addition to the top international levels, junior open training, senior open training, open preliminary, and open intermediate all took to the dressage ring today. See results and more information on the Rebecca Farm site
