Back To The Normal Routine At True Prospect

It’s been a week since returning from WEG. I’m thankful to say that Charlie, my four-legged friend, was very happy to have Mom home. It is always nice to be greeted by a wagging tail and sloppy kisses!

It’s been a week since returning from WEG. I’m thankful to say that Charlie, my four-legged friend, was very happy to have Mom home. It is always nice to be greeted by a wagging tail and sloppy kisses!

Our trip home was a safe one. Woodburn is truly enjoying being out in his pasture. Annie Jones, who has a share in Woodburn, lives only 15 minutes away from the barn. She is a great owner who likes to be involved in the horses training and care. Woodburn is hanging out with some of the old boys including Cayman Went. After horses come back from Annie’s, they are always fat, relaxed and happy.

It takes me a while to get back in the swing of running the large barn. I did take a couple of days off to regenerate and get some personal things organized.  The staff at True Prospect did an awesome job of keeping the wheels turning whilst Phillip and I were gone. Jennie had to ride and compete some of the younger horses including qualifying Vidalia, an intermediate mare Phillip rides, for Fair Hill next weekend. Jennie did a great job and ended up in fourth place in the CIC two-star at Plantation Field.

This weekend was Maryland where Phillip rode five horses on Saturday and four horses today. I went yesterday, but my right hand girl, Kelley went today.  We say that Maryland is in our own backyard, but when waking up at 3 a.m. in the morning and driving 2.5 hours away on a daily basis, I would think otherwise!  Ularinka did her first intermediate, which went really well, and she ended up in third place. Phillip also rode Jan Byyny’s Why Not into second place, which puts him in good stead for this week’s Fair Hill two-star. Fernhill Eagle just did the dressage and stadium. Although he was rather wild in the show jumping warm-up, he put in a clear round. He is heading to the three-star this week.

Phillip is taking three to Fair Hill, so I will have a busy week. I have also officially put in my entry for the Las Vegas half marathon, so now the serious training begins. I ran five miles tonight, and my muscles are letting me know it.

We have put in an entry for Tru Luck to the Pau CCI****. I have never competed in France so am looking forward to it. Although having grown up in England I only ever spent three days in France at EuroDisney…. Not exactly the best of the French I feel!!

I will try to keep you updated whilst at Fair Hill. Let’s hope for drier weather this year!
