Updated: Andrew Nicholson Hospitalized After Fall At Gatcombe

Top New Zealand eventer Andrew Nicholson is currently hospitalized after falling at the last fence on course at the Festival Of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park CIC*** (Great Britain), reported Horse & Hound. Nicholson was transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Top New Zealand eventer Andrew Nicholson is currently hospitalized after falling at the last fence on course at the Festival Of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park CIC*** (Great Britain), reported Horse & Hound. Nicholson was transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. 

“Andrew Nicholson underwent surgery yesterday to repair the injury to his neck,” stated a spokesperson for the rider on Aug. 11. “The surgery went well, and his condition is stable. Andrew is comfortable and has full range of movement. His family would like to thank the many well-wishers.”

Nicholson’s mount, Cillnabradden Evo, was not injured.

Aug. 14 Update 

 Nicholson’s spokesperson released an update on the rider’s health: “He is continuing to make good progress after surgery and is able to walk unaided. He is looking forward to returning home to continue his recovery and would like to thank everyone for their messages of support and goodwill, which have been much appreciated.”
