Twenty-three horses were presented this afternoon at the Mars Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill and all passed. There was just one hold, Britain-based U.S. pair Grace Taylor and Game Changer, but the 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse passed on re-inspection.

Boyd Martin did not present On Cue, the horse with whom he won the inaugural event here in 2021.

“While she feels happy and healthy, I felt she was starting to struggle in her final gallops and jump schools,” Martin wrote on social media. “I am incredibly proud of everything On Cue and I have accomplished together, and after discussing it with the Turner family, we have decided to step her down from the top of the sport.”

With Cue’s withdrawal, Jessica Phoenix of Canada will be the first in the ring tomorrow at 2 p.m. Eastern with five-star rookie Fluorescent Adolescent.

The three-star long will begin the day at 9 a.m.
