Swiss Olympic show jumper Steve Guerdat announced via his website on Oct. 26 that his winning partner from the 2015 Longines FEI Show Jumping World Cup Final (Nev.), Albfuehren’s Paille, will be retiring to Hofgut Albführen in Germany. She will enter their breeding program.

The 13-year-old Selle Français mare (Kannan—Miloust D’Isigny, Dollar Du Murier), who is jointly owned by Hofgut Albführen and Elisabeth Bachmann, last showed in October of 2015. She then sustained an injury and didn’t return to competition afterwards.

“With great gratitude, Steve looks back on the unfortunately far too short time he was given to spend with the exceptional mare, with which he could win the 2015 World Cup in Las Vegas, and he will always hold her up in his heart and memory,” stated Guerdat’s website. “From the first jointly contested courses, every appearance and every tournament was always fulfilled by splendid performances, and at the same time a special connectedness between Paille and Steve.”

Before Guerdat, fellow Swiss rider Alexandra Fricker rode the mare in numerous CSI*****s. Guerdat got the ride in 2014 and rode her to third in the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final in Geneva, Switzerland.
