Wellington, FL – Over the past 8 years Pure Thoughts Inc. has helped over 1400 horses. These years were spent not only helping the horses but also learning and growing to ensure the rescue is manageable, functional and a place the community will embrace. The horses that arrive at Pure Thoughts are rehabbed and retrained. This involves a longer process but it insures that the adopter is adopting a horse that is healthy, sound, behavior evaluated and he/she is a safe riding horse. Brad Gaver, co-founder of Pure Thoughts Inc stated,” We cannot train a horse for jumping, dressage, western pleasure etc.  We train for life so the horse can go on and do what their new owner would like whether it is trail riding, working with kids, showing in an equine sport, etc.”

Pure Thoughts is an all-volunteer 501c3 organization. Brad Gaver, has his Masters Degree in Education specializing in special needs with over 25 years experience with equines including becoming a farrier at the age of 19. Brad is the farrier, trainer, manages the volunteer program and the horses care. Jennifer Swanson, Co-Founder has a business background handles the administration, writing, website and individual equine nutrition. The volunteer program is very large, volunteers assist with everything from office work i.e. thank you’s, flyers etc, grooming, cleaning, ground work, riding and of course much needed TLC, however they would like to help.

Over the past year, in addition to the horses already at Pure Thoughts, the rescue has taken in 30 horses from abuse, abandonment, neglect and surrender, 52 Thoroughbreds whose racing career has ended and may have ended up at slaughter and have assisted 10 families in keeping their horse through difficult economic situations that may have arisen.

Since the beginning, a local foundation, The Emily Vernon Foundation has been a long standing contributor as well as grants from the ASPCA, The Equus Foundation and other organizations but we need to do more. The rescue is lacking in events and participation and that is where we need help from the community, companies, organizations and individuals that are knowledgeable and would like to include the rescue/horses in an event, would like to contribute or would like to be a sponsor
 
Although Pure Thoughts Inc is one of the 3 largest equine rescues in the country they are in need of outside assistance. Jennifer Swanson stated, I have realized my limitations. We throw fun parties but we are lucky if we raise any money when the expenses are all done. I have never been good at asking for help I have always assumed that if we ran a quality rescue, it would follow. Now, for us to continue, we need to ask for help. We are in need of PR, someone knowledgeable at fundraising and events. We need to be a part of some of the events out there for charities and we need assistance in finding them.
