Phillip Dutton To Ride For United States

Although he’s made the United States his home for 15 years, Phillip Dutton has continued to represent his native Australia at international competitions. He’s now decided to change his citizenship, however, to represent the U.S. team, according to a news bulletin from the Equestrian Federation of Australia.

Although he’s made the United States his home for 15 years, Phillip Dutton has continued to represent his native Australia at international competitions. He’s now decided to change his citizenship, however, to represent the U.S. team, according to a news bulletin from the Equestrian Federation of Australia.

Dutton, 43, lives with his wife Evie and their three daughters in Avondale, Pa. He helped Australia win the team gold medal at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics. He was the flagbearer for Australia at the 2006 World Equestrian Games, where he rode as an individual. He has represented Australia at every major games since the 1994 World Championships.

In 1998 and for the last seven years, Dutton has been the U.S. Eventing Association’s Rider of the Year, and he rode the USEA Horse of the Year in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, he was the FEI leading rider, and the Chronicle’s Eventing Horseman of the Year.
