The buzz about Dutch dressage rider Edward Gal and his stallion Moorlands Totilas grew to a roar after the pair posted another world-record score yesterday, Aug. 26, at the Alltech FEI European Dressage Championships at Windsor Castle in England.
Just one month ago, at the Exquis World Dressage Masters CDI***** in Hickstead, England, Gal and Totilas scored a record 89.40 percent on their Grand Prix freestyle, and this time they earned a spot in the history books with their Grand Prix test. The pair scored 84.08 percent in Windsor and led the Dutch team to a gold medal.
“My horse doesn’t know he’s a star,” Gal said of the 9-year-old Dutch Warmblood. “He doesn’t feel arrogant or anything. He just does what he does because he can.”

Totilas, who is quickly becoming famous for his incredible power, extraordinary accuracy and exuberant gaits, earned numerous 9s and 10s on his movements, but Gal said he’s looking forward to even better scores in the future.
“We’ve had lots of offers for him, but he’s not for sale,” he said. “As long as I want to ride him, he will not be sold, and I want to ride him until we score 100 percent!”
The pair will perform their Grand Prix freestyle for the individual championship on Saturday, Aug. 29.
