On November 8, 2012 Joan Norton VMD, DACVIM, ofNorton Veterinary Consulting and Education Resources (NVCER), will speak at the Fall Equine Clinic from 6-9 p.m. at the Louisville Equestrian Center.
“The topic of my presentation will be Metabolic Issues: What are the clinical signs,” said Dr. Norton. “Many are unaware that, similar to humans, there is an obesity epidemic in horses and how it is related to Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS). At this seminar we will discuss diagnosis and treatment of EMS and insulin resistance. We will also touch on how EMS and Cushing’s are connected.”
Sponsored by Nutrena and Metzger’s Country Store, the event promises to be well attended by Louisville area equestrians and horse enthusiasts. Nutrena will provide free hay testing. There will also be prizes, drawings and swag at the fun and educational event.
