To be honest, I can't see if the ball is still attached to the truck or not. I can see the safety chains still are, but can't say if I see the ball or not.
However, it does appear that the tongue has been snapped.

I had someone drive up the right hand shoulder on a one-lane ramp like this once, then swerve in front of me, presumably in order to show their annoyance at my slow speed. Scary

In the one photo it looked like a lot of blood on shoulder of road, and someone running.
Hope both are OK.
VERY scary!

Scuttlebutt in the office today from someone who knows owner says that the pin was dislodged at some point, resulting in the trailer separating from hitch. It's every horse owner's worst nightmare to lose a horse while trailering. My heart goes out to them.

I had noticed in one photo that there were 2 blanketed horses but in the next photo the green blanket is lying on the ground. I'm so, so sorry for the owner of the horses. What an absolute tragedy.
