Default Veterans Day. Let's Not Forget the Horses That Served.

Photos at the link. They did their best in horrible circumstances.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields

Not horse related, but incredible story of the rescue of Roger Locher, who was lost in Vietnam for 23 days.

May we never forget them - but, oh, they are such difficult images to think about.

    Let's remember Sergeant Reckless.

Last night the CBC showed the story of Morning Glory who was sent to France in WWI - but they bought her back and she lived to be 26 years old, I'm happy to say

Not like the British who left their cavalry horses in Egypt.
