Neighbor told me about this pony that was left in a field. They were going to develop the land and the pony hadn't been touched for a year. Nothing was done to him the owners just left. Luckily it was a Bermuda field so he had hay and the neighbor gave him water but that's it!
We decided to go pick him up. We named him Cricket. He is about 13.3 and probably around 7 years old. He is halter broke, but that's all we know.
Took me forever to get the dreads out of his mane! He does have a pot belly and fungus on his legs, needs a trim and a dentist, but I think he will fine!
Did I mention he is a black stallion!? Yes he will also get gelded soon!
He is happy to have friends besides wild chickens and good food and water! Loves attention too!
Yeah, I was really shocked about his feet too. They don't look bad at all. Especially for being on grass and not sand or dirt!
Even his coat looks good, but I am assuming that because he is a stallion.
He does have a slight wonky hind ankle, but it doesn't seem to bother him and it went down a little with a little round pen work.
People lost the house and I guess just figured someone would take the pony. He had no food at the house in a dirt lot and at least the neighbor put him in the empty lot next door with Bermuda. Luckily those owners didn't care.
Poor guy. He seems sweet, not sure why someone would dump him. ;(
