to treat Cushings?
Anyone tried this as treatment?
My boarder has a young horse who was recently diagnosed with Cushings, and in the course of gathering information a holistic vet who practises in our area suggested acupuncture.
I know acupuncture is a valid treatment option for many conditions but I have not heard of using it to treat Cushings so I am wondering if anyone has tried it.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines.
My holistic vet suggested one of Dr. Jing Tang's chinese formulas (Ophiopogon), to use in addition to Prascend.
I don't know if I'll try it or not. Sometimes nuts and berries, herbal stuff, worries me. But I do try to be open about such things.
I might give it a go if I heard of more people's experiences with it.
Ghazzu, your opinions mean a great deal to me and I appreciate hearing them.
Except for perhaps suppressing the immune system, Cushings hasn't much to do with it. It isn't a result of suppressed immune system.
Ghazzu's option covers all bases, especially the basic one.
Cushings weakens the immune system, making the horse susceptible to problems a healthy horse can fight off. The acupuncture points can strengthen the immune system (ST 36 is a much-used point in humans and animals).
