Hey all, I'm riding in a clinic this weekend and diligently cleaned tack & tall boots today (Leather Therapy cleaner for tack & Fiebings Boot Cleaner on boots.) Haven't put polish on the boots yet or conditioned the tack as I've had a sudden premonition of squeaking around the arena all through my ride tomorrow. Which has happened a couple of times before when I got overzealous with the cleaning. What's the cause and/or solution to the squeaky clean squeaks? Can't even figure out if it's the boots or the saddle or what. I am obviously not that versed in cleaning.
You can dust under the saddle flaps with baby powder and that will help with the squeaking without damaging the leather. Been there, done that, had Jochen Schleese tell me how to fix it.
And if you discover that you have polished your boots too well and now they're too slippery against your leathers, rub a bit of a Fiebings bar on the inside leg of the boots. I think it was a clinician who suggested that and it did wonders for me.
Enjoy your clinic!!!
