So sorry ! Hopefully he passed quickly. I lost my beloved Morgan at 20 to colic - he was not responding to treatment and I didn't want to consider surgery, so we euthanized him. He's buried in our pasture. BIG HUGS to you !

He was beautiful. Godspeed Skyler. You left a few broken hearts when you left but they will never forget you.
    (((hugs))) to you Redsky.

I'm so sorry that you've lost him. I also apologize for not responding to your question. My computer has been down and then I have not been receiving updates from the forums since the new format started.

Thank you again everyone for your support. I am really struggling with this. I feel so guilty for leaving him that last night, and that he suffered at the end. I wish so much I could have given him the gift of a painless death. I also feel so guilty that we did not figure out the cause of his weight loss soon enough. First I thought it was because he was being worked more often, then I thought we just needed to wait for his new food to start to show since he wasn't going to get fat over night, then we thought it was Cushings and had to wait until a little later in the season to test, and then he was gone. If I'd only sent him to the vet school as soon as he started to loose weight maybe he would still be with me. It just all happened so fast. I miss him so much and he deserved better than this.

    I'm so very sorry
I learned something very important this year, through the loss of one of our horses. He dropped significant amounts of weight in the summer, two summers in a row, and we could not figure out why. Turns out he was eating something toxic and his liver was dying. I never in a million years would have guessed that this was the problem. We only found out after he was necropsied.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

He is at peace. There is no need for guilt. He was loved and knew it. Maybe he was waiting for you to leave.

    Many hugs.
