Last minute Halloween costumes
I really dislike Halloween. I'm just out of college and usually spent the night at home or with a friend or two also avoiding the holiday. Using it as an excuse to walk around nearly naked was never my style and I'm not witty or creative enough to come up with an original costume.
Well we're having a block party and I know I'll hear it if I'm not at least a little dressed up. So spill it... What have you thrown together at the last minute?

My BIL just posted a picture of him with 50 gray paint samples taped to himself.
Free. Easy. You might get some odd looks at the hardware store though.

use makeup to give yourself a black eye. Cut a "P" out of paper or cloth and pin it to your chest. Voila... a Black-eyed Pea

Oh lordy, perfect timing... I'm taking my daughter trick or treating in about 2 hours and am at a total loss. I would throw on my show clothes and go that route, but no way am I actually WALKING in those boots.

White garbage bag = ghost
Orange garbage bag, marker and orange face paint = pumpkin
Black garbage bag, vampire teeth and white face paint = vampire
All neatly designed to fit over your kid's snowsuit if you live somewhere cold! ;-)

A friend's daughter went as a bag of candy. Large claer garbage bag. Cut holes for your legs & arms. Fill with different colored balloons. Tie at your neck with a ribbon...done.
When we were kids, my brother & I went as a Christmas Tree & a Christmas present. One was a tree shape, cut out of cardboard, painted green with some gliettery decorations pasted on. The other was in a large box (head & arm holes cut, legs out the open bottom), wrapped in gift wrap with a ribbon.

Glue sponges to an old t-shirt. When people ask what you are tell them "self absorbed".

Buy some zombie makeup. Normal clothes, wear whatever you want, but you look creepy.

If you're the type to go the political route... get some cardboard and fashion yourself a binder. Add some cutouts of other women, and there you go! Binder full of women!
Here's a handy how-to video ( you can use cardboard instead of foam core):

It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got.

If you can scrounge up a blue dress and some devil horns, go as Devil with the Blue Dress On. That's what I did this year
Instant Pirate: dark pants, black boots, black tee, white button down shirt tucked in half buttoned up and poofed, and a bandana. (works best with at least an eye patch)

Get a bag of that fake spiderweb gauzy stuff. Apply liberally (drape them all over yourself) and you can go as a spiderweb. Easy, cheap, and it actually looks Halloween-y

A clear plastic bag with holes cut out for arms, taped around your legs at the bottom...fill it with popcorn and wear either a bowl or movie popcorn bag on your head...
An old prom dress and fairy wings and glitter...you can be a fairy, a fairy princess or an unemployed fairy (which is what a friend was on Saturday)

We had someone show up to a party last night simply dressed in her office clothes. She wasn't really in costume, but because she wore glasses she actually got votes for the best costume as...
Sarah Palin!

I stopped at the bank today and all the tellers were in their pajamas with cute pigtail hairstyles... I was sort of wishing I'd thought of that this morning.
If nothing else, you can take an old sheet, cut holes in it like swiss cheese, and go as "Holy Sheet".
