Most reality tv is like nails on a chalkboard anymore. Honey Boo Boo is frighteningly bad, to me anyway.
I did, however, enjoy the South Park re: Honey Boo Boo. Between James Cameron's theme song and Cartman's rascal, I couldn't stop laughing. I have pretty bad taste though...

On this crappy new design, I saw this topic as “who hates honey” – and I thought, really?!? I love honey!
Oh – right, that Honey Boo Boo disaster – Yet another reason I am SOOO glad I do not have TV! Only seen pictures of that train wreck family in news articles.
There was a picture floating around facebook – Compared Shirley Temple and Honey Boo Boo and asked what the heck happened to our society?!?!
Thought it summed it up nicely. One was smart, with manners and class, the other is uneducated, unhealthy, and obnoxious – oh how our idols have changed.

What is messed up about the family besides the beauty pageant stuff? Exhibiting children like you do animals I never do get, but besides that?
And Turtleman...oy. Steve Irwin is to blame for that. Let's face it, since Steve Irwin was on tv he's never been equalled, but since his advent there are countless shows of men poking animals and chasing them around. He started it and all these are just cashing in.
Animal Planet has pretty much lost it. 24/7 programming is just too much and stations have too much time to fill.

Actually the "sketti" is straight up BUTTER with ketchup. And they check that the pasta is ready by throwing it against the wall! Classy I tell ya!

For some reason, that is more disgusting to me than watching the cocky dude on "Man, Woman, Wild" trying to convince his wife to drink piss.

The pasta against the wall thing? Google it. That's been around since long before those people were born. They just overdid it for the cameras.

I have never seen it. My co-worker's son was talking about the show one day so she googled it at work. Wow it's depressing that people actually watch it.

This.
A certain inlaw insists on having the TV on constantly. In every room....you know if you go from the kitchen to the bedroom you can't bear to miss a second....It drives me INSANE!

(And yes, I have watched the show and it's horrific - but I also find the family strangely endearing for some reason)
So do I and it has nothing to do with feeling superior. As a matter of fact, I believe the mother June, truly adores her family. Not the way I would choose to bring up kids, but hey we're not all the same.

I'm with Jane Honda and Quinn on this.
My DH and I were talking about the show, because I had it on, and he was ridiculing it. My response was there's something about it I like. Oh, so much is "wrong" but they seem to love each other and have fun together. The mom, June said that it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, it's whats on the inside.
Dh changed the channel to football. Great. Violence interrupted by committee meetings.

Leaf, I'm with your dh and would rather watch football!
Well, I did see a part of the episode of ... what was the original show called. (think, think). The pageant show, whatever it is called. The mom was feeding her daughter a mixture of Mt. Dew and something like Red Bull. Um...WTF? This is a kid! From then on I could not watch it. I may even have the wrong kid, but that really threw me off.

I also find the family sort of endearing. Like, for example, the "sketti" dinner, that's all they had to eat and no one complained about it--they ate their meal their mother prepared and appreciated it. They are not a rich family but appear to be happy with what they have and I hope that by participating in this reality show, those kids will have a chance for a future that may not have been a possibility for them before.

The original show is Toddlers & Tiaras. And the name of the drink is Go Go Juice (one can keep up with pop culture with Yahoo's Prime Time in No Time and never have to subject brain cells to all the ick). Yes, they were giving Go Go Juice to a 5yo!!

Uh, I admit to throwing pasta against the wall. It really does work!
As for the show, I haven't ever watched it. I'm finding that I am getting more and more selective about what I watch since I don't have much time anymore to plop down in front of the TV.

I live about an hour and a half north of them, but I listen to their area's local country radio station, 99.1 WDEN, every morning and pretty much everyone in their area cannot stand the negative attention they are brining. I have never watched the show, but they absolutely are not a reflection of middle Georgia people.

I have not seen the show - I have seen snippets. I hear the saving grace is that they are a very loving family.
The bits I've seen?? Thank God I don't get cable - that goes for the Kardashians as well. Who cares what they do.
