Thanks for updating us Mod 1. Hope the storm did not set you behind too much and you are safe.

Look again. Quick Reply does offer smilies.
If you want regular reply the post reply button at the top works. The button at the bottom works if you hit the right spot, I used it for this response.

As was very politely explained two posts above yours (and I have quoted it for you right here), it was broke so they had to fix it.

That *may* have been an iPad glitch, I haven't tried it yet on the desktop.

Another thing besides the Post Reply button is that that New Thread button when you are scrolling through the various forum threads seems to be on top of the last thread title/caption before you have to go the next page. It just seems that the spacing is off. Although, I didn't actually try to start a new thread, so I don't know if the button actually works or not.

I'm using Internet explorer.
Also, when I try to use the quick navigation drop down menu, it doesn't let me scroll. I can click the bottom arrow, and the menu will drop a tiny amount, enough to show the next menu "item", and then close, so I have to reclick, and keep doing that until the forum shows up in the menu that I want. It won't scroll if you hold the button down or if you keep clicking.
I am having exactly the same problems with IE9. It is practically unusable/unreadable.
It seems to work better on IE8

I LOVE beige/tan. It reminds me of the old magazine cover and it seems restful, somehow. I currently have a blinding headache beginning. I was going to blame the cocktails I had after work last night, but now I think it might be the new color scheme.
I'm not having any issues with ads or font size on my desktop (Chrome) but I will check my Android later.
Love you, CoTH. Just a lot more in beige than in red.

Why does everything that has started with the new format say it has zero views when it has a crap load of posts? Does views mean something different now?

Views is definitely messed up. On my screen, the number of "Views" is exactly one more than the number of "Replies" for all threads started after the upgrade.

In this section I see threads with views. When I do a listing of today's posts there are so many threads with zero views it is weird.

I'm 100% sure views is not working right. It isn't counting my views. I've done a study

On the "Post Reply" button at the top of the page, a "Log Out" button is partially overlapping so you have to be careful where you click/press. Additionally, the Log Out up there is white so you don't see it except for what's overlapping the blue reply button.
I also wanted to agree with others that I do not like COTH keeping track of who views profiles and publishing it pubicly. Come on now... If you're going to let us appreciate/not appreciate anonymously, at least let us "creep" anonymously.

Where is the choice of fonts, colors quotes and 'go advanced' on the regular reply page? I can see them for quick reply but not for regular replies.

The developers said that the last round of fixes from the development site didn't transfer to the live site for some reason, so our apologies for that.
We'll be fixing the red, the goofy post reply button at the bottom, the tiny font on the main page, the inclusion of OT and Menagerie posts in Today's Posts, the lack of thumbnails for Premium member photo uploads and more...still getting organized, but wanted to check in.
The search is definitely wonky, so we'll work on that (and will possibly be implementing a new system down the road a bit, depending on how this one operates in comparison to our old one, which wasn't that great to begin with!) and I'm checking to see if we can hopefully import individuals posting histories from the old site so that you can pull up all old posts via a user's profile page, like you could before. That's one of my often used tools too!
I also wanted to address someone's question earlier about whether this is "it" in terms of new features, etc. NO. Priority number one was the software upgrade and getting the site working correctly with the new software and looking familiar for users. We wanted to implement a few new goodies while we were at it so that folks saw some reason for all the trouble and disruption, but we're going to be looking into further additions after we get things going smoothly and evaluate what we have already.
The next major step is to implement a universal log-in system across the whole site, so you no longer have to have separate accounts for the forums, the main site and the classifieds.
After that's up and running, so we can manage our user bases more effectively in terms of subscriptions, credits for the classisfieds site, etc., we're going to work on new features for Premium members and probably some more for the main site too.
Some of the new things you're seeing, like the new profile set-up, are defaults for the software, and we wanted to see how they operated in real life, get used to them and let you try them before we figured out what to keep and what to change. Once we get through some of the actual glitches, etc., we can focus more on some of those optional settings.
For those with privacy concerns, please be advised that on the new site, as on the old one, you can activate an "Invisible" option for your account, so that other users can't see what threads you're viewing, and apparently now what profiles you've looked at, etc. To do that, click on "Settings" from the left side of the blue bar at the top of the page (that's your new User CP). Click "General Settings" then select "Invisible Mode On."
I also want to reassure you that any change to a site comes with glitches, and we're just starting the process of getting things straightened out. You're not going to be stuck with ugly red font and buttons that don't work. I don't foresee any big changes in terms of layout -- we've kept the same basic scheme from the old site in terms of the ad bar on the right, etc. and while we know some folks don't like it, all this maintenance don't come cheap.
I'll be checking back in later.
Thanks!

I appreciate all the work that's going in to this. When it's all ironed out, the site will be better than ever!

Thanks! We really are trying to make the site better all the time--promise!
Something I just remember that was brought up before, that I'm liking the use of and wanted to point out:
When you open a thread you've been on before, you can click on "View First Unread" from the left side of the gray bar at the top of the thread, and that will zoom you right to where you left off.
Something that's always interesting to see when we make any changes is how different people navigate around the site differently. There are features that I never used on the old site that were daily key tools for other users, and probably vice versa, so some of the issues are hard to ID until the site's active and being used in real-world situations. Keep in mind that some things may not be changeable, as they may be too "hard-wired" in the new software, but we'll be listening!
Thanks again ~

Can't use private messages
Top bar (settings etc), and many other things are off to the right of the screen, overlaid with the side bar (photos, join our community buttons).
Private messages also open up in this same area, which means I can't really read them, and even though I can manage to type a response (blindly, as it is overlapped with stuff), I can't get to the reply button, so I can't use PMs.

Font too small for these tired old eyes and the screens are so cluttered.
A big thumbs down from me.

I didn't read all eight pages, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but using Opera as my browser on BlackBerry means I cannot post a reply. It shows a reply screen but the only place you can post into is the subject line.
The page takes so long to load in the regular BlackBerry browser that the server times out, so Opera is the only option. Only now it isn't.

I don't get email notifications on new posts in threads I've posted in. I miss getting those.
I tried clicking around and even found a box that said "notification," which I clicked. I found a subscriptions page also, which I clicked. Still no emails.

I can't change anything in General Settings, because a big block of ads covers 3/4 of it.
