    I am happy that the holding the reins like you are carrying the baby birds or "baby chicks" analogy worked for you!

    I don't think so, so far before I started leasing him he had not been worked on connection and when he's used for lessons he's used with advanced beginners who don't know how to ride on connection yet.

    Thanks, I was just warming up and trying to get a good posture and then it clicked on me: "hey, this does feel like carrying baby chicks!", so I tried to keep that feeling for he whole ride. I felt there was a much more consistent connection with the hose's mouth when riding this way.
    Yes, I smell like a horse. No, I don't consider that to be a problem.
