My coworker's mother's white kitty need prayers and jingles.

He just had surgery for a colon blockage and now vet says he must be an indoor kitty on a special diet. His person is elderly, on a limited income, and has another cat who is elderly, diabetic, and on a special diet. She is feeling the pinch. My coworker has suggested having the white kitty put down.

As far as I know he is otherwise healthy. He is 2-3 years old, neutered, and has his claws. He is a well-loved lap cat.

If I were in a better financial situation myself, with any room at all, I would take him, at least foster him 'til a forever home could be found.

I had suggested he could be a barn cat, but now with the special diet/indoor-only requirement, I don't know ...

Anybody in central AL in need of a loving white lap-kitty?

Is his diet going to be that different from her old, diabetic kitty? Diabetic diets are generally pretty mild and may suit him just fine. If he's otherwise healthy and already a lap kitty he should make the transition to indoor kitty just fine. Maybe someone could just help out his owner with a food donation for the kitties once in a while - special food on their diet only.

Donating food is a good idea, Tiki. I may suggest that.

What bothers me most is that my coworker does NOT like cats, does not like visiting when the cat is around, and is not apparently going to do anything to help with the finances.
Would like the cat to be gone, and I think the kitty is at risk. I am trying to find him a home (the kitty, not the coworker!).
