Thank you ! Thank you !
So there is another "symptom" - he has some patchy sweating on both sides of his neck and two spots on his hinney. Been happening since Sunday. And only after mid-day.
It cool sweat. And he only had a temp of 99.5 yesterday at 6PM when I saw him.
I *think* it is due to mixing too much herbal with the meds he is on....but who knows. Waiting to see what the vet says.
Anyway....
the sucker LOOKS better! I didnt snap any pictures last night as I ran out of daylight. But we are thinking that the bute helps him to move properly so he is and therefore the edema is going away. And I think the shoulder might be smaller.....
Then last night after I fixed his dinner, I came out of the barn (he eats out in pasture) and the beast whinnied, shook his head and then tried to buck at me!! I thought it was GREAT!
And then I also thought that something might be making him mean.....
But we are going to stick with the "he feels better" theory for right now.

Jingles that it isn't cancer and that Bubba will get better.
Jingles for you too, I can't even begin to imagine the up and down ride you have been on.

Sent off pigeon fever test, negative. Probably going to do another test for stranlges again since he grew strep. Might try a round of steroids. Specialist at Auburn still does not think cancer. Ugh. Right now he is comfy on bute.

Be careful with steroids. Give orally rather than by injection if possible. Steroids can cause founder in non-IR horses.

Still no answers. Probably sending a strangles titer to see if its still possibly bastard strangles. Still has the lymph edema. Doing well with bute but don't know how long we can keep that up. Auburn vet will be back soon. Not really sure what to do at this point. We'll keep updating when/if anything changes

No. There is no change.
He is hanging out. With a big shoulder. Supposed to have the specialist from Auburn back coming soon.
He is getting 1 gram of bute every other day. Helps keeping him moving so that he doesn't puff up.
Other than that he has a great appetite. Eating and drinking normally.
So sad.

Jingling for Bubba.
I'm not sure why, but he has really stuck in my mind.
Glad that he is seeming to feel well considering.

Well 2 weeks ago the specialist did another biopsy amd found that he has a benign tumor, likely caused by a kick that developed into this large mass that has a large blood supply. Basically it has gotten so big that it is inoperable. We were going to take him down to Auburn for necropsy and case study, as this has not been studied since 1999 because it is so rare. However, he has declined greatly over the past week, to the point where 2g bute isn't doing the job to comfortably make the trip down to Auburn. He has an appointment tomorrow with our vet to end his suffering. Very sad update. It has been a very rough year for HandsomeBay, please send jingles her way.
