Well right now he is on broad spectrums until the sensitivities come back. Waiting sucks and he's just looking worse in the mean time. I have a feeling he will end up at NC state or Georgia before its over with :/

This morning the biopsy results came back, and he has cancer. At this stage there is really nothing we can do except keep him comfortable until arrangements are made.

Bubba's story started about 7 years ago. Handsomebay passed by his owner's place every morning. You could tell from the road he was severely malnourished and just a baby. Maybe 1-2 years old. She offered the owner a couple hundred bucks just to get him out of that situation. He was ugly, ginormous head and awkward body. We called him 'the big horse'. No idea what breeding or really how old. But he grew into a gorgeous 1400lb something who was fabulous on the flat and a point and shoot hunt horse. She named him Toby, regisered as Learnin' to Fly'. Just a big sweet 'Bubba'. He has had the best life for the last 6 or so years, and he was lucky she found him.

Monday the pathology came back to local vet and it said sarcoma.
Told no real treatment. Be prepared to make arrangements.

Tuesday the specialist from Auburn sees the report and says maybe not.

Gut feeling is that he thinks it really IS Pigeon Fever and we should do one more blood test before doing anything drastic.

Ok.

Pulled blood yesterday (Tuesday) to send to UC-Davis.

We started him on bute to keep him moving. Between legs is better.

He ran from me yesterday after unloading him from the trailer so I *think* he feels ok.

Fingers crossed we have a definite answer in 10 days!

Oh my goodness! 10 days to wait? Yuck.
I've never dealt with Pigeon Fever; would starting the treatment now hurt him if it turns out in 10 days not to be Pigeon Fever but indeed cancer?
