I do not remember the particulars, but I believe a 'restriction of trade' lawsuit was the catalyst for AQHA eliminating the excessive white rule for registration of foals .
I don't know how they'll argue that point either. After all, Barney Ward has been banned from USEF shows for life and he's still in business. The man can prep them from 3 feet off any show grounds and effectively train show horses.
There is a long history of breed associations holding the power to "limit trade" if members want to participate in contests they sponsor. In the 19th century there were some huge suits involving faked milk production records for Holstein dairy cattle. The Holstein-Friesian Association won by kicking the offending breeder out and reserving the right to limit membership because it was a private organization.

So.... how much did he pay an attorney to get this far, dipping a big toe in a big ol' swamp of spending?

Yes indeed I am a wacko.
Seems to many of you self righteous Cothers are simply meely mouthed hypocrites.
The lawsuit has legal merit and standing so stop showing your ignorance. I, me, withdrew because I could not serve them...........the court did not take the action and I can bring suit at a later date.

You might want to try something besides suing, you don't seem to have a lot of luck. Mind you, what I went looking for was to see whether you actually have any horse training experience, but these public links are all that came up. Well, there is the bitless bridle further down the search results page, but tenuous at best with regard to expertise in training and showing horses...

Mr. Buck, I actually DO understand that you could not proceed with your lawsuit against the AQHA because you could not afford the fee required to serve the papers. I read both of your filings...it was exhausting, but I did read them. I think you should save your $500.00 (when you do have it to spend).

Beverley, somebody here has preserved for all time the Reverend's riding lesson expertise on YouTube. It will give you all the information you need on his abilities as a teacher and trainer.

I am far from being a "self righteous Cothers". And I own quarter horse and a member of AQHA. Sir you are "NUTS"!
