I know for you endurance types this is not a big deal, but we are like that blog -fat horse fat rider. Our barn has an exercise track that's 1/3 mile so we've been working on that. I am impressed and tickled that I could post a mile and that Fella trotted the mile. We're having issues with saddle fit -the riser is making him back sensitive sometimes -so I'm waiting for a cashel wedge pad.
I just feel like maybe I can post in the endurance forum now I'd love to do a 12 or a 25 with him eventually (he's a perch/standardbred cross) as competitive trail is one of the things we'd like to try.
No doubt we'll be expanding our range -but carefully and deliberately. My barn has some nice hills too.
He is total garbage! Quick! Hide him on my trailer (Petstorejunkie).
That's totally awesome. I remember when I started jogging and made it all the way to the bridge. Probably a half mile, but to me it was a huge victory. Don't let anyone tell you different. Congratulations!
That is fantastic -- good for you! And anyway, if you're both building up, you want to take it in reasonable steps, because that way you can both stay balanced and strong and not develop any fatigue-related habits that will mess with you later. :-)
