    From the opening day ...

State vets fail to administer Lasix to horse prior to race

Infrattini, trained by Paul McGee and owned by Mike Zlaket’s Z Thoroughbreds, finished first anyway without the medication, the first time he has run in his 14 races without the drug.
The horse ran with complete confidence, winning by a length and drawing off, sans the lasix.

Wonder if they will keep running him Lasix free now?? Just goes to show that all too often horses are given Lasix that don't need it (and can run just fine without it!)

I wondered the same question as well.

Indeed its shocking the horse didn't suddenly catch fire or explode or whatever nonsense is suggested that will almost certainly happen to a horse running off it. Yes, bleeding is serious but too many trainers seem to use it "just in case" or fearing they'll lack an edge that others may have. Of course I'm no trainer so take my opinion/observation as just that.
