Halter Nameplate
I am purchasing a leather halter and nameplate for my horse to wear at shows. In all of my years I've never bought a nameplate! Now I'm not sure what to write on it.
I was going to have his show name and then there's room available for a second line. Should I put "owned by: name here?" Or is that tacky?
What do you guys have on your halters?

I personally like show name only. They start to look crammed like racehorse halters with the second line.

I have their show name and then their barn name underneath

On on of mine I have show name on top and barn name on bottom and on the other I just have barn name. The reason I have show name on the other is because there are two horses on the farm with the name.

I just have show name. I also only use that halter at shows so his name matches all his documentation at the show, easy to know exactly who he is.
If it's an everyday halter, I'd put just his barn name.

I've always just put my own last name on halters.

I have my mare's barn name on her "fancy" halter. I like that it's more personal than it would be if she had her show name.

my barn halter has his barn name on it and show halter has just his show name on it.

My horse's halter has his barn name on it.
I've got a new halter that I bought for my old horse with his show name on it (he was supposed to replace my current horse in the forever horse category but that really fell through) so I think I'm going to pull the plate off of that and replace it with my horse's show name on it so he'll have one with barn name and one with show name.

Mine is top line: Show name (which is his show name with one other word in front)
and bottom line: My first and last name
This is the one I use everyday. The show halter was a prize so it says "2010 [assoc] [division] Champion".

I have one line on each halter. Two is too jumbled for me since my pony has 3/4" halters.
Show name on both everyday leather and show leather halters.
Barn name on nylon (for bathing) grooming halter and leather grooming halter.
I love my fat pony and POA!

My normal convention is to do 2 lines and put:
Horse's Show Name
My Name
When I still had a fair number of sales horses coming through here I used to just put my name on the halter since halters stayed when horses were sold and moved on to the next horse.
But now that I've started collecting horses rather than selling them (insert husband eye roll here) I stick to show name/my name since the halters aren't going from horse to horse anymore. Of course having said that, I just looked at some pictures of my guys on my phone and realized that my mare's halter has her show name only (Foxy Socks), and my big guy has his barn name only (William). And my baby has his barn name with my name underneath it (Charley followed by my name).
I'm not sure how I ended up with all those different name plates when I have a plan to always do the same thing

I have registered name on top with sire and dam underneath.

I just have show name on there, but Nikki uses the same leather halter whether we're at home or at a show.

Same problem! I have a show halter with only the barn name (there was some logic to that - a lot of times the name on the stall card is the barn name), another horse with a show halter with his show name, some with both, I think not too many with my name anymore and a stall plate with show/barn name to make it absolutely clear to anyone handling horses who goes where, regardless of my all-over-the-board system. Well, that presumes the right halter goes on the right horse out in pasture!

I have my horses registered name on the nameplate, and then on a dangle tag I have her barn name.

Interesting. I've never seen a nameplate on a nylon halter.
