Buck Brannaman in WVA Oct 5-8
Who is going? A friend and I will be auditing. This is as close as he is coming to us this year. Although I would love to visit some of the places on his schedule . If you've been to his clinics, will he sign books if we bring them along?

Yes, he will autograph them. I believe the "meet and greet" is on the last day though at the break between the morning session and the afternoon session. At least that was my experience at the Longmont Clinic in August of this year.

A friend of mine and her husband are riding. I told her she has to tell me all about it! Have fun, everybody!

We just went to a Buck clinic here in Maine. The b/o did the morning session all 4 days. Next time he's here, which is usually every other year, she thinks maybe she'll try the cow cutting clinic.
It used to be that you could just drive up to a clinic and walk in, pay your money and audit. Now they are selling tickets, and this clinic was sold out for auditors. We got to go because we signed up with the b/o when she sent in her entry.
I really enjoyed watching him, and picked a couple of really good exercises to work on. He answered lots of questions, including a few from the peanut gallery. He did think we talk funny though...
I watched the movie for about the sixth time. It's still just as good and worth seeing if you haven't already. If I had the money I'd definitely go for the new clinic dvd's that were shot at the locations where they shot the movie.

I think they have "unlimited auditing" at this one. But the organizer told me to get there early!

I'm going to audit the one in NC tomorrow. Alas, can only get there for one day this time. But Buck's clinics just rejuvinate me, and I always come home with something new to try and reminders of how important the basics and the little things are!
BTW, when Buck does cow-working, it isn't so much cutting as it is just using your horse to work cows in a cow-friendly manner. It often isn't fast work, and is often in a team with other participants. It's really good for any kind of horse--gives them an idea that there is a purpose to all of the things we do with them, like lateral work, turns on fh and haunches, etc. Makes you take your eyes off of your horse and just ride.

I am halfway through the dvd's, well worth the cost for sure.
We're spending our money on horses and bourbon. The rest we're just wasting.

Just went to his clinic in Wisconsin a few weeks ago. We audited all four days. Was a very good time.
When the riding was over, he came over after he put his horse away each of the first three days. He wanted to hit the road (as we did too) on the last day, so didnt come after the riding.
They set up a table for him. He posed for pics and signed his books/DVD's. We only stayed on the 1st day, since it was a Friday, not super busy. He was very nice.
He said that one of the days, he stayed several hours answering questions, posing for pics and signing his books.
I believe it was on Saturday, which had a LOT of people auditing.
Tim Boyer lives nearby, and was trained by Ray Hunt and Dorrance. I have taken a LOT of his clinics, so I was familiar to most of what Buck did thru out the weekend. The stuff really works wonders!! My horse is really good, but after a Boyer clinic, he really does get even more soft and responsive. All horses can benefit from these exercises!
Was still fun to watch. Buck had 20 horses in the first clinic and 26 horses in the 2nd one. A lot of the riders were pretty bad at the beginning, but by Monday, you could really see the improvements both in the riders and horses.
I have a friend that is riding w/Buck in Alabama, mid October. She is getting excited.
Have fun! Well worth going and watching!!

Great clinic, can't wait for 2014. It was a lot of work, but everybody left with a smile on their face.
Watch WGN nightly news on Oct 2nd for a story.

I'd appreciate the link too. Some of us don't have a TV.

We were only able to stay the first 2 days but loved it. As he stated many times, "I am not here to judge... but I AM here to comment". The knowledge he shares with the participants and the crowd is worth every cent. And I am glad my first clinic was as an auditor and not a participant.
I took a few photos. I am still going through them, but here is a link to what I have uploaded so far https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3&l=9caf5cd697
If anyone attended Sunday and Monday, I would love to hear what we missed.
