What on earth possesses people to want to do that? We are mysterious beasties ourselves. This seems of no practical use on any battlefield, truly ballet-like. Very interesting and a good shot though.
Horses should be trained in such a way that they not only love their riders, but look forward to the time they are with them.

Try sword fighting with the rider of a horse doing that.
That move would take the rider out of harms way and most likely harm the opponent or his horse.
You jump in the saddle,
Hold onto the bridle!
