We'll have to meet up at Kel-Mac! My fiance and his nephew sometimes show at Kel-Mac and there are definitely a lot of Pintos out there. Did you go to the APHA show in Conyers in Feb?

if your horse fits the color requirements and is not a draft or donkey cross they can get registred as a Pinto, having existing papers does not matter

From the Pinto Associations website (after listing all the acceptable outcross breeds):

PtHA can also register horse mares and geldings based on their color alone as well as any sex of ponies and minis.


The PtHA does not accept any horses with Appaloosa, draft or mule breeding and/or characteristics or known breeding within the previous four generations, except for utility classified horses.


Horse stallions cannot be registered unless both parents are registered with PtHA or a PtHA approved outcross breed. Ponies and miniature stallions can be registered with undocumented parentage.

From that I would say only stallions need to be registered. Anything else just needs to have enough white.
