Default Lovely warmblood retiree - now has a great home

Just wanted to update: my horse is thriving at my friend's place! My friend's retiree is now his best buddy. I gave my friend a 2-stall barn portable barn for them, and friend installed it at his new property so they will have a nice, safe barn for the winter months. Thank you all for your concern for my special guy.

I am so sorry for what you are going through.

I hate to say this, but sometimes it is better to euth than to give away a horse. I'd do that with my 2, who are 12 and 17 yoa, if I could not keep them. Even sound good horses cannot find homes. I got one of them last June, so i know how it is out there.

I hope you go into remission. And I hope someone does adopt your horse and give him a good home. There just aren't enough homes for them all.

Thank you for all your kind wishes. i have given this a lot of thought, believe me. I don't disagree with the posters advising euthanasia, but I want to try this first.

I have a wonderful place he can stay for the summer with a close friend, but unfortunately, I believe the winters there would be too hard for him. At that point, if no one appropriate adopts him, euthanasia will probably be the best option. Just still holding out hope that the right person will connect with this horse...or that my circumstances will change and I will be able to afford to pay for his retirement myself.

There is a reason that the windshield is larger than the rear view mirror!
