Default Grazing muzzles -- are they enough?

Two of my 4 are in grazing muzzles every time they go out on grass (usually during the day). I worked them up to it gradually but...I still worry about them. (They look fine.)

Do grazing muzzles restrict enough that laminitis is not really an issue? Has anyone ever had a horse founder while wearing a grazing muzzle?

Sorry for the paranoia, I just cringe when I see the founder posts.

I would say for the average easy keeper then yes. My Cushings/IR pony cannot have any grass. Period. So the answer for him is no! You can also think about duct taping the bottom of the basket so they can only eat through the little hole--I've done that for my super fatties that figured out how to eat out of the side of the muzzle.
