That awkward moment when...
Your horse tries to make a path through the middle of a bunch of pine trees.
I guess I should have seen that one coming *facepalm* But before I had time to say WTF horse? I was getting whacked in the face by a bunch of branches. then he realized this was not such a good idea (no $hit!) and somehow managed to turn around and make his way back to the actual path, while i was clinging to his neck in an attempt to make sure my head did not get separated from my shoulders. I got off with a few scrapes.
Well, life sure never gets dull when you have a horse...
Yes, I smell like a horse. No, I don't consider that to be a problem.

Yup. You have the same horse, vocabulary and logic that I do.
The whole point of riding a horse (as opposed to an ATV) is that the sucker is supposed to save you from stupid mistakes, not make them.
A part of me likes it when the horse hits "the bad idea" with his face first. It seems fair. It seems like a growth opportunity.

Sorry to hear that, my country has what you might call a mild weather and even though the colder days of winter came a little this year, we hardly had any rain. Its starting to get warmer during the day now.
Funny thing is, I wasn't planning to do any trail riding today, but there were some people filming in the outdoor arena and the footing of indoor arena is pretty crappy atm. So I thought it might be nice and relaxing to go for a little trail ride. Right?
I wonder if this is why dressage riders don't like to take their horses out of the arena
In case you're wondering (and need a laugh) this what I look like after the ride:

Oh Yikes! The old horse i used to ride would blaze his own trail like that, thankfully our wooded areas are pretty clear at rider height.... For the most part!

Oh ouch! I am unfortunately familiar with the routine of dropping the reins altogether and parting, or trying to, those vicious cedar branches. I think the pony does it on purpose, because he has yet to try to dive through the osage orange thickets (they have spines). The day he does though, I'm offa there, he can run all over or stay stuck, I don't care.

OW! That looks worse than what I pictured. Guess I am happy I stuck to an indoor riding lesson today, which went rather crappily, if it makes you feel any better. However, I don't have any scrapes/welts.
