With so much that has changed for me, it's interesting to realize that I'm still making progress. Rhodey tends to be a wonderful benchmark for me.

I never thought when he walked off that trailer three and a half years ago that I'd be here typing this, because I had no expectations from him. I can truly say with him the journey has been the thing.

And after his run at KY, I think he's got enough game to at least have a go!

I predict your next four weeks will be an endless loop of wishing the show was tomorrow followed by hoping you'll accidentally drop the hairdryer in the bathtub (or get trampled by cattle or electrocuted by the toaster, etc.).

The good news is, eventually the show WILL be tomorrow.

You'll be fine. You'll have fun. I saw those videos -- even if you have to ride the whole course like you rode that coop, you'll be ok. Rhodey seems like he really wants to get the job done.

How 'bout Dezi and I record my first coursewalk on Friday afternoon and then maybe someone can tape me "having a go" on the weekend.

I actually found the Training test much more intuitive and flowing than Novice, and can use it to keep the mare more focused by giving her a little more to do.

I remember that same feeling when I entered my first Training with Traveler, like "what the heck am I doing!" I was doing fine at the actual event until I walked the course, then I felt like being anywhere but there. My husband actually got mad at me because I kept saying, "I'm going to die..." Kelly, when I moved Willow up to T I was so excited to "have a go." She was such a confidence builder. Rhodey felt a bit like her at Kentucky, that sort of "I know what you're thinking and, yes, let's do it!" feeling.

So, I'm guardedly optimistic but I'm still guarded. I do hope it'll go well. I have been working on his medium trot all summer!
