Default Sprint has been my carrier for 12 yrs. Switching to Verizon/ATT 4 an Iphone. No? Yes?

Anyone care to talk me off the wall?

I have a plan w/Sprint that's like $80 per phone (2 phones familyplan) 800 mins and unlmt everything.

    I am SO tempted.

But I have had Sprint forever.

Stay w/Sprint? HTC EVO 4G? Droid it? Or switch. So torn.

    Anyone?

I would like to hear what other people have to say about this too. I have had Verizon for 10 years and I pay too much for minutes and unlimited data, to the tune of 100 bucks a month. I do not use my phone to 'talk' on it that much, more of a texter/email/google kind of person.

I like having a smart phone and I do not want to give it up.

Enjoy you'll spend another 40-60 a month and interestingly enough the turnaround time for even an insurance repair is longer for the iPhone.

I preordered my new Samsung Galaxy s2 a couple weeks ago and I pick it up Friday.

It rivals the iPhone and surpasses it in many ways and I won't get slammed with a HUGE smartphone monthly fee and my unlimited package is far more affordable on Sprint.

Do the research... the Galaxy S2 may give you everything you want.

(Fyi I manage our company''s Verizon account and I can tell you exactly how much more VZ costs)

At&T has its own share of issues, but as a plus you can talk and use the web concurrently on the iphone with them. You can't on Vz.

The iPhone 5 is being released in October and will more than likely be available on Sprint...so just wait another month

Thanks all! I went in w/that thought Design, the mobile dude (multicarrier, not Sprint specific) said don't count on it, and wasn't confident about the Iphone 5 platform to begin with says it's not ready.

The one factor that made me take a Droid over an iphone is the battery issue. In iphones the battery is soldered in, and has to be swapped out at the factory, but droids have regular batteries.

A huge factor about choosing phone companies is the service. Where I live only Verizon covers my area, so that made it easy.

The #1 issue for me is: does it work where I need it to (office, home and commute between). Because if it doesn't, it's a no-go, no matter how pretty, kool or hitech it is.

I'm also on Sprint and if I were you I would stay on Sprint! Even if the Iphone doesn't come out on time, the service is definitely better than At&t or Verizon. Everyone I know says how in certain places all over town they will drop calls every time they go by somewhere (At&t and verizon users) and I've never had a problem with calls dropping on my end. IMO, that is worth not having an Iphone! Also, my sister just got the HTC EVO and it is really cool, if Iphones weren't coming out on Sprint soon I would go get one!

DH and I have been with AT&T for years. The service has continually gone downhill and the customer service - ugh!

DH switched to Sprint a couple of months ago. I decided to let him be the test subject. He has not dropped any calls in that time. At all. I not only drop 4-5 calls a day, but the signal goes in and out for no rhyme or reason.

Today I switched to Sprint. I haven't dropped one call today. It's too early for a strong endorsement yet, but I am so glad I finally dumped AT&T. As a self-employed person who relies heavily on phone and Internet in various locations, they made my life hell at times.

If Sprint is working for you, I'd be hesitant to switch to AT&T.

After hurricane Irene blew through the only people who did not have phone service available up here were those who had AT&T. Cell phones, landlines and internet service all went out in a major AT&T outage, and stayed out for several days. Additionally, if you have an iMac on DSL, the router card may have a compatibility issue with AT&T, causing your internet to lose surf (or drop off of the internet and not be able to get back on). According to the Apple specialist who went through my computer and then changed the router card (after we spent three weeks trying to work with the company's techies both in India and in the US), there is a big problem with AT&T and iMacs in this regard. Not so much with PC's. Diagnostics to find out there was nothing wrong with my machine and the price to change the card ran us $150. AT&T won't tell you it is a router card problem; they'll just tell you there is a router outage and leave you to go fish. Two thumbs down.

Sprint is getting the iPhone, so if you want to stay with Sprint, you can just wait a bit until you are eligible or whatever to upgrade your phones.

Well, I'll be the dissenting voice. We did the same thing (after being with Sprint forever), and I LOVE my iphone/AT&T. I get MUCH better service out where I live (middle of nowhere). It used to be I traveled to NM, just an hour away, and got nada driving through the whole state with sprint. Now I can go and call from the road!

I'm in the same boat. Have had Verizon for YEARS for both my work phone and my personal phone. I have the option of getting an iPhone at work (I no longer have a personal phone), but I hate the idea of not have service at times. My husband has the iPHone 4 and I love playing with it. But I hate that there are too many holes in the network. If we both have iPhones and are both in the same area without service, how are we supposed to make calls?

I love my iPhone. pick the network that is best for you, order a new iPhone, and enjoy!

I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for about 13 years and have zero complaints. However, I think the quality of cell phone service varies a great deal from location to location. Another consideration is what services you use on your particular phone. I use mine for phone calls (LOL, that seems so old-fashioned) and light texting, so I don't even have a smart phone. I know tons of iPhone fans though, so I'm sure my day is coming. :-) Good luck with your decision.

I have the iPhone with AT&T, but had Verizon in the past for years. With Verizon, I never had a dropped call or any issues with no-signal or weird connection problems with my calls. AT&T on the otherhand, ugh.. Very frustrating. I have 3 months left with our contract and I cannot wait to go back to Verizon. I do love the iPhone, other than some minor issues that occurred because I drop my phone all the time without a good cover on.

But if you are happy with Sprint and they are getting the iPhone, I would stay and just wait.

No need to wait, the IPhone is out. I've been with Sprint 7 years and happy I waited, getting my 4S next week! My mom has AT+T and drops calls ALL the time.

We have AT&T. I have an iphone, my husband something else (samsung??), not sure. Neither of us have had a problem with dropped calls or no service. As far as a phone, the best one is the one that you work best with, so try them all. I like the iphone, but I am more familiar with it because of my years with an ipod touch. My husband loves his phone. I do like the screen on his phone better.

Verizon ripped me off for $200. If they were the only option on earth, I'd do no more business with them.
